To celebrate 100 years since the first visit of Prince Ranjitsinhji or Ranji has he was fondly known we are hosting a very speical event tomorrow night.
Sunil Ghai from Pickle Restaurant in Dublin will join Danni in the kitchen for a unique dining experience, brining North Indian flavours to The Owenmore Restaurant.
In 1924, His Highness the Maharaja Jam Sahib of Nawanager better known as Ranjitsinhji or Ranji Prince of Cricketers visited Ireland as a guest of the Irish government staying in Dublin before travelling to Ballynahinch for a private fishing holiday. It was during this two week holiday he fell in love with Connemara and at the end of his trip decided to purchase the house and estate.
To honour this rich history, Sunil and Danni will present a five-course tasting menu that beautifully blends the flavours of India and Irish produce. The exclusive event will begin at 7:30pm with welcome drinks, followed by a five-course tasting menu at 8pm in The Owenmore Restaurant. Guests will be treated to an unforgettable evening of storytelling through food, as Sunil brings his distinctive modern Indian cuisine to the heart of Connemara.
The bespoke five-course menu will feature some of Sunil's signature dishes, including crispy curly kale fritters, five spice crusted scallops and his famous goat curry, Memsaab’s Raragosht. Together with Danni's focus on estate and local produce they will provide guests with a unique culinary experience, paying tribute to the legacy of the Maharaja and his connection to Ballynahinch.
