By the end of June, the river was at a good level and there were a good number of sea trout running through the system.
There were thirteen salmon caught from the June 21st to July 5th. Cathy Beck landed an 8lb salmon and a 5¾lb salmon was caught by Tom McManus. John Casey, one of our Fishing Club Members, caught a total of 3 salmon. He decided to keep a nice 7lb salmon and released back his other two.
From the 5th to the 24th of July, a total of sixteen salmon were caught and these had an average weight of 5-6lbs a piece. On July 22nd Stephen Cullinane landed two salmon; one of 4lbs in weight and the other of 6lbs. He decided to keep the 6lbs salmon and released the 4lb salmon back into the river.
Now at the end of July, there is a nice number of both salmon and sea trout in the river at Ballynahinch.
