While many holiday plans are not possible this year due to COVID-19, staycations in Ireland are a great way to get a break from the daily routine. Located in a 700 acre estate of woodlands, rivers and walkways in the heart of Connemara, Ballynahinch Castle Hotel offers an an idyllic staycation location and we are delighted to be part of the Stay and Spend Scheme launched by the Government of Ireland.
The scheme, running from the 1st of October 2020 to the 30th of April 2021, allows tax-payers who spend up to €625 in qualifying businesses to claim up to €125 in income tax credits. Also if a taxpayer doesn't have enough income tax liability to fully benefit from the measure, they may still avail of the relief against their USC contributions.
To avail of Stay and Spend Scheme for your staycation, you must spend at least €25 on accommodation, food, and non-alcoholic drink purchases and you must upload a copy of your receipts to the Revenue Receipts Tracker app. The scheme is being supported by both Fáilte Ireland and the National Tourism Development Authority.
