Fishing Update
Dienstag, 07 Juli 2015
The season at Ballynahinch got off the markon the 4th of May this year, with Stephen Cullinane landing a fine fresh fishof 9lbs, on a Black Shrimp variant. The rest of May was tough going, with highwater and cool temperatures, however those who persisted were rewarded. MylesMcDowell and his son Colin were rewarded with 2 beautiful fish over 4 days, both taken on a heavy Posh Tosh bottle tube. However as June approached, waterlevels receded slightly and temperatures rose, and May ended with a flurry offish being caught.June started well with a few fish early onin the month. The highlight of these early fish being the stunning 13lb salmoncaught on the 10th of the month, by Mr Gamondi on a Riffle Hitch, in low waterconditions. The low water conditions continued for the majority of the month, yet despite what looked to be unfavourable conditions, the river produced fishalmost daily. A special mention to Nicky Strauss who landed two fine fishwithin an hour on Beat 1 on the 29th of the month, following up this brace withanother lovely fresh fish on the 3rd of July.July has started promisingly, with fish beingtaken daily. A congratulations to Terry Strange of the USA, who landed his firstAtlantic salmon ever, on the 3rd of July from Sna Beg. A fantastic specimenweighing in at 14 3/4 lb, the largest of the season so far. Water conditionsare ideal at present, with the system being topped up by showers quiteregularly.
